I am confident that there is someone else who has the same interests and problem as have I on finding a solution to the problem, and maybe-knock on wood-someone has that solution. And, sadly, when I next travel to Italy I don't want the same problem of not being able to buy certain DVDs simply because they won't play in Region 1 DVD players. I am allowed to do the swap from one region to another around 3 or 4 times, as I recall, and then, after the last permitted swap, my DVD will be forever locked on that lost region code as was used. I'm hoping someone on the Rome forum has dealt with this issues themselves and may have a solution to my problem, now described.Īs those who've encountered the problem themselves, will know, unless an Italian language DVD has been sold in the USA and coded as Region 1 or coded as "region free", you cannot play it on your laptop with the DVD player included in your laptop, with one exception that is a major problem. I have researched so many times and have been unable to find an external DVD player that I can connect to my laptop (Windows operating system) and play Italian language DVDs that are locked to Region 2.
